
After finishing her university degree in geology (Dipl.-Geol.) Dr. phil. habil. Elke M. Geenen, founder of ISOKIA, studied sociology, psychology and geophysics. Third-party funded projects followed dealing with i.a. questions on equal oppurtunities, childcare and women in science and administration. Ph.D. thesis on sociological problems of earthquake disasters, especially in Turkey. Technology assessment of probable innovative early-warning technologies. Research assistant at the Institute of Sociology at Christian-Albrechts-University in Kiel. Habilitation with a script on the "sociology of the stranger". Venia legendi for sociology.
Main research focus on general sociology (sociology of the stranger, system theoretics, social differentiation, civilization theory), accelerated social change, risk and disaster sociology, gender-research, empirical social research.
She has extended experience in design, leading and execution of empiric statistical and qualitative research. Furthermore she helds a certificate in quality management (QM).
